Michelle from the United States:
I was lucky to happen upon this place! I was travelling solo and looking for a quiet spot where I could work for a few days. I wasn’t going to rent a car, so was curious about what was within walking or bus distance. The owners and I communicated beforehand and they were so nice, they made sure I had a place where I could set up my computer and work (they also had free Wi-Fi), they described the different amenities and sights nearby, and they even offered to purchase a bus pass for me so it would be ready when I got there. They could have not have been more accommodating or nice! The place was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfasts were bountiful and quite tasty (complete with blueberries hand-picked by the owners). All in all, this turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for!

Magdalena from Sweden:

Darcia was a very nice and helpful host – I really appreciated the friendly welcome! I would like to recommend this host and room to anyone visiting Umeå!

Asgeir from Iceland:

Darcia and Stefan are wonderful hosts. Prior to our stay we got a detailed e-mail on how to get to the house from the airport (drawn on to a aerial photo) and info on bus routes close by. At arrival they are friendly and offer us some coffee and tea. The bedroom is a good size, the beds comfortable and plenty of closet/drawers for clothes. The breakfast is a very good way to start the day – new bread, good cheese, jams, eggs (made to your liking), yoghurt, cereal, juice and coffee/tea. The place is on the edge of town but you really don’t mind because there are two buses that stop 3min from doorstep and go approx every 5-10min. A very cosy neighbourhood, safe and a lot of playgrounds. Superb hosts, overall probably one of the best options when staying in Umeå!

Katerina from Greece:

After a long and tiring journey, we stayed at Darcia’s for a night and she was really helpful, friendly and social. She made us feel comfortable. The next morning she made for us a delicious breakfast with home-made bread and jams. Since I’ve come here for studies she gave me some tips and information about the living in Umea. I surely recommend to anyone Darcia’s lovely house!

Liset from The Netherlands:

My boyfriend and I had a great time at Darcia’s place. She and her partner were very nice, communication was great. They provided us with information about the public transport and things to do in Umea. And we got a delicious breakfast! Location is very nice for people who enjoy nature as it is a little bit outside the center of Umea but close to the lake. We rented bikes which I can recommend as Umea has great facilities for bikers.

Ciaran from Ireland:

I had an absolutely wonderful stay with Darcia & Stefan. Let me first of all say that I booked this looking for a b&b and this surpassed all of my expectations. Really nice clean room, spacious bathroom, fast free wifi & great breakfast in a nice location with easy bus access to town and amenities. Beyond this however, I was blown away by the wonderful hospitality I received. I was in Umea undergoing surgery, and my hosts went above and beyond from my time of arrival to departure, helping me with advice and doing the extra things to make my stay most comfortable. Also, the great conversations had over tea will not be forgotten. I came here looking for lodging for two days and left having made some new friends and great memories of my time in Umea. If you are looking for a place to stay in this area, I don’t think you’ll find a better option than this. Overall, it was a completely positive experience. Thanks so much Darcia & Stefan!!

Jaime from Peru:

Everything especially the warmth of the host. Truly a spectacular area and lovely room. Comfortable, clean accommodation with a beautiful view of the countryside. Owners were very attentive to our needs but we felt very free to enjoy all the facilities, safety was one of the most valuable things to highlight about the place. All advisories provided regarding facilities and touristic places from Umea, they always were ready and willing to help and advise for everything we and my wife asked for. Better then expected for the budget.

Ruth and I had a couple of wonderful nights with Darcia and Stephan. They even waited up late for us our first night as our ferry from Finland did not arrive until late at night. Darcia was in constant contact by email. We particularly enjoyed the philosophical visits about the differences and similarities between the North American culture and the Swedish/Belgian cultures. We didn’t expect to meet an Elvis and Springsteen fan in Umeå but there she was having traveled from New York to Memphis by Greyhound! The breakfasts were great, plenty of variety and quantity. The room and bathroom were spotless. The internet was fast and free, a good combination. They provided us with spot-on recommendations for travel from and around Umeå. The price was perfect. If anyone chooses another B & B in Umeå, they are making a big mistake.
